Farm radios were produced in the 1930's and 1940's for use in rural areas where 115vac supply was not available.
Various dc power sources were used.

The Sentinal radio above is marked as a 2v radio as it uses 2v filament tubes. A 5E1
ballast tube is used to regulate the tube heater current, so that the filament 'A' supply can
use either 2v re-chargeable cells or a 3v dry cell battery.
